Today, June 16th, is Alice Bailey’s birthday!
A prolific author of Ageless Wisdom, Bailey is renowned for her telepathic collaboration with the Tibetan master Djwal Khul (DK). Both were alive at the same time, yet they never met in person — proving that true spiritual partnership transcends physical distance.
Her books have been one of my main sources of guidance and inspiration, especially as I navigated my own mystical experiences. Alice Bailey’s Human Design chart is just as fascinating as her life. She was an Emotional Manifesting Generator, with her Personality Sun and Earth on the lines of the Prophet and Teacher. Notably, she was born with gates 40 and 51 — indicating the potential to break away from the religious traditions of her family (her tribe) and to experience the kind of shocking, transformative event (Gate 51) that propels a person onto a completely new path.
Bailey also had Gate 3, known as “Difficulty at the Beginning.” People with this gate often face challenges during birth or early childhood. In her own words from The Unfinished Autobiography:
“My mother had a very difficult time bringing me into the world. She nearly lost her life and always referred to my birth as a traumatic event.”
Fast-forward to her Uranus Opposition (a time of great transformation in Human Design), which coincided with the start of her communications with DK: Her chart reveals the activation of Gate 61.1 — the gate of inner mysteries and esoteric knowledge. The Head Center is now linked to the Throat via channels 61/24 and 43/23, known as the “Channel of Structuring” or “Freak to Genius,” which brings forth unique, groundbreaking information. She also had the 1/8 channel activated, defining her G Center and highlighting her deeply individual identity.
Bailey’s lifelong fragile health is mirrored in her chart: her Splenic Center (the triangle on the left) was undefined, a configuration that often correlates with heightened sensitivity to physical wellbeing. With the Uranus Opposition, the channel 28/38 became active, lending her the vital energy to persevere through struggle.
On her birthday, I honor Alice Bailey — a true pioneer of esoteric wisdom and a living example of how our unique design shapes our spiritual journey.
